 Re: Driveshaft Boots
There was a small split in one of mine. I cleaned it thoroughly, roughened the surface with fine wet & dry, then sealed with Evostik metal bond which stays flexible. It has lasted over a year so far. Passed MOT no problem.

 Re: Driveshaft Boots
Nice tip, Knightley! Did you butt-join the edges or overlap them slightly? Does Evostik metal bond have a specific name, or is it just that? Ta.

I put on a blob which covered the split (butt join), so it looks like a small grey slug on the boot. You could put a bit of superglue in the slit first. I can't remember if I did that. (I have in the past on previous cars and it held) It is called Evostik Liquid Metal. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_176487_langId_-1_categoryId_165691

 Re: Driveshaft Boots
I think it's not to prevent dirt getting in it, but keeping the grease in..
