Join the club! mine did that about a month ago. but i got a threaded insert put inside as the hole in the cylinder was a bit too ovalled! its a quickish job though. it makes a horrible noise though dosnt it! (and these cars are no fun on one cylinder)
goodluck with the fix!
Joe.

One month later, june it flew out again... This time no thread left, so continued my journey together with the ANWB: Tom wrote: quick question... Whats left is a bend/buggerd bonnet, maybe a broken front window, damaged roof and panic all the way because it's impossible to see anything in front of you. I'm using from those rubber hooks (see picture).

What is the reason? it's to stop your bonnet flying up & smacking the top of the 'screen surround, not that it happens that often & you should be ok if your bonnet catch is adjusted properly. It just gives you piece of mind really.

Re: For your delight and amusement......
Yep, it was very noisy! It's weird how when things go wrong with a 2CV, I generally remain kind of calm. As long as it's one thing, not a chain of events. Like a tyre exploding, and a lorry reversing onto me. That would be terrible. Put a slightly longer spark plug in with a washer on, this managed to grip onto the remaining thread, enough to get me the 15 miles or so t' garage in Stoke. So the mothership didn't have to tow me, because she was freaking out about it. Just got to pick it up early Sat morning then I'm coming over to the tinternash. Put my wine in the cooler! Wish I was there now like....stupid work. Bungee cord is possibly not that essential for me, but I have a bit of paranoia seeing my bonnet jump around, so I prefer to keep it on. I've gone for the none matching yellow option. Classy. See you all at the weekend hopefully.

As I remember it a GSA plug is threaded longer than 2CV so it is possible to use one of these to get you home. Just be carefull fitting them tho as if you screw them in too far they will hit the head. I saw this work at the 50th Anniversary Meeting years ago when someone took a spare plug from my Acdyane 1300!! and it go the 2CV back from Paris to the UK.
