Post Re: AZL 1957
Wanted to get the 57 from the garage but starter turned slow. So checked the sparkplugs. Cleaned and tested there was a very weak spark... So took the battery home to hook it at the large vintage Philips charger 6 amps. It did charge all evening and held a 6,7 volts which is normal... But this morning there was only 4 volts left, so one of the cells must be dead. So game over. I did order a new battery 140 amps in stead of the 66 amps i had now. That gives some more starting power...

I had some cranking/starting issues with the Shed. The battery is charged and in a cupboard at the moment waiting for some better weather. :D

Got a new battery a bit more amperes than the old one. The car started within half a turn of the engine now. Only brakes are a bit weak. Will have to check this... Or i am used to the disc brakes...

No, your new battery is too heavy, breakes are not made for such extra heavy weight .

Well took a brake drum off at one side. The brake shoes were a little greasy but only one of the wheelcylindre pistons did move. So complete demontage and cleaning....pfpf. Lucky it's still nice and dry outside.

Did clean brake shoes and drums. Wheels cylinders did move... so tomorrow adjust the brakes and bleed the brakes.

So first adjusting the brakes, the rear brakes could be adjusted more than a half turn...
in front shoes were almost in contact. Bleeding didn't bring out any air. Little test, brakes gripped fine now...
