I'd like some stainless ones that look identical to the standard ones.

I do find it a bit frustrating to buy standard bumpers and watch them rust before my eyes.
I've tried all sorts to make them last longer (paint, seam sealer, cavity wax etc) but they still rust as soon as they see moisture. The problem is the seam on the top of the front bumper that you can't get into with paint or whatever.I see the Harrington bumpers do away with this seam.

I wonder what they'd look like if they were etch primed and painted Gris Rose with the standard black bumper tape?

Hi Lenny ...I got p*ss*d off with replacing rusty bumpers on my [1988] 2CV .....it seemed I was replacing them every 4 or 5 years ....I tried waxoyling the inner surfaces, painting them with Hammerite, respaying them,I was even informed [by a well know supplier] that .....
"There are two qualities of bumper,if youre keeping the car put the better quality one on"
.....but it still rotted through at the seam .....tbh,I tried every avenue I could think of ....and they still rotted.
I thought about a Dyane front bumper but I could'nt find a good one at the time .....So I bought this ....
Image
....from a supplier "up North" ..... :| As looks go,its poor, its got ripples in it where its been pressed into shape but at least its the correct shape ....and above all it does'nt rust .....[so quite frankly,I could'nt give a flying f*ck whether it "looks right" or not .... :P ] .....I guess with some filler applied to the ripples,a good coat of etch primer it'd prob'ly spray up in grey and look like an original one.

btw ......a Dyane bumper fits the rear brackets on your 2CV .....

....again,some purists might say it looks wrong, but again ..... it wont rust. :|

The stainless ones ive seen arent that good. Id pick rusty dented ones over stainless any day

Honestly ?
I'm doing a full restoration on the 2cv, I can't ruin it by fitting crap bumpers?
Don't they do a decent quality set of standard bumpers anywhere?

The main fault with the normal steel ones is the actual paint finish.Mine is flaking off after 4 years. I would suggest that if they were etch primed then primed and sprayed then the correct colour, which is then slow baked. The under surfaces coated with waxoyl or like I would say they should last for donkeys years. Powder coating is another option, but getting the the correct colour might be a problem if your a purist :-)

I agree, 2cvs and dyanes look very nice without bumpers on the back (dyanes also look good without bumpers on the front). But you have to be carefull when reversing etc.

This is the only real bumper to fit on the front. P.O. bumpers looks great and works well on raid cars with the added bash plate.

I have a cream Harrington interior in my D*lly, fitted in 2007, looks ace, hard wearing and wipe clean ;)

The only caveat is that naked skin tends to stick to them in summer
