Finally taken a bite out of the Apple, I've just got an iPhone. Here's hoping it's as good as everybody says......And far better than the SE Xperia it replaces (HATEFUL BLOODY THING!!)

yes, the first xperia with windows was shite, but the ones running on android are really good and reliable phones..
I might be a bit prejudiced because I'm a big fan of the Sony (Ericsson) (smart)phones.

I'm in no way a tech-geek, I can only share my experience with owning the thing. I had a normal SE 'dumbphone' before going for the Xperia X8 with Android OS, and the previous phone was brilliant, but the X8 was biblically awful and I'm glad to see the back of it. The touch screen wasn't particularly responsive, the phone was forever crashing, and having now used an iPhone, I've come to realise the navigation around the functions wasn't good. The iPhone is far more intuitive, I was up and running within half an hour.

I have a Nokia 3310 and as yet not needed anything more whizzy than that. It goes in my pocket and I can use it for making telephone calls. I fail to see what else you need in a telephone?

I spent an hour in the Apple Store in Bham on Sunday with my 12-year old son. Weird place. It's more like a bloody religious cult hangout than a shop. The crazed-eyed evangelists, I mean staff, remind me of the moonies that used to bug me at airports and the Socialist Workers that used to bug me at uni. Totally brainwashed. And after a while in the store I swear strange things starts happening... you start to think that everything.is.normal.the.future.is.brushed.metal.products.will.save.us.paying.500+.for.a.mobile.phone.is.cooooool.all.hail.steve.and.his.zen.shiny.things. etc.

At one point I started to halucinate and even began to feel an overwhelming desire to buy an iPod Touch. Why? I have no idea!!

My son is convinced that an iPhone is what he needs to make his life complete - but at one point I have to say I did feel a bit proud of him when he asked a crazed-eyed evangelist "why are they so bloody expensive?" For once, I didn't tell him off for swearing.

Me, I'm happy with my Palm Pre, which I got for £80 years ago. I do quite like iPhones and the like, but the cost of them is just a bit bonkers. In my humble opinion, each to their own and all that...

I have an iPod touch, and I love it, it's definitely better than a Walkman and I don't have to carry any tapes or compact discs around with me. It also does the Internet and I can watch videos in my lunchtime should the need take me. It takes really shit photos though, nowhere near as good as my fairly basic £280 three year old camera. I don't understand why they feel the need to fit shit cameras to everyday items that don't need them. We also have an iPad which gets a lot of use in our house, it's not as good as a computer though, it doesn't have a cd drive, a USB port or a way of plugging it into my printer except by wireless.

I don't understand why 'smart' phones are so popular. I've had phones with internets on them and they're not as good as an actual internets off the computer. The camera isn't as good as an actual camera, none of the features are as good as a device designed specifically for that purpose. It's like saying 'I've got 500 quids worth of second rate electrical products in my pocket, so I can be as trendy as possible'
