Adding to the tired man above.
When you order shockies measure the diameter size of the shockie bolts 12 or 14 mm.
14 mm is the ''norm'' on AK/ACA/AMI see here.
http://www.2cviking.eu/catalog/index.ph ... anguage=en
But many Ak, Acadiane and Ami are fitted with 12 mm (standard 2cv bolts) so you never know what you car is fitted with. If you have 12 mm you can order normal front 2cv shockies as they fit on the rear as well. They have the same working space (front and rear) due to bigger spring pots.
If 14 mm are fitted, order 4 shockies for the front and you'll be right.
Acadiane is the same for the front but not the rear.

Started work this morning, Harry is coming along later as is Jack from Marsh Citroen Repairs.

Just as I was opening the garage up, the post woman handed me a little parcel...

Thanks Viking!

First thing I noticed was that the fan pulley has cracked, second one this year...

Thankfully I noticed before it gave up completely this time.

The main issue I want to solve today is that the engine gets very hot, one side particularly so. I wondered whther the oil feed is blocked but having removed the rocker cover there is plenty of oil inside, although I'm not sure if this means I can rule it out?

The valve clearances are within what they should be, which was something else I had wondered about.

I'm going to fit a new set of oil feed pipes and change the oil, which I hope will cure it.

Not so happy now!

Asked old man Higgs why he thought it was getting hot one side and generally, he said it might be an idea to have a look at the pistons and barrels to make sure it wasn't picking up and siezing or anything...

I don't have the money to buy a set of new pistons and barrels now, so I'm off to strip another engine or two down and see if I have one with a pair in better shape than these.

Looks normal to me for an old lady that is.
Clean the pistons, new set of rings and hone your barrels and off you go...hehe.

Sorry dude. I just hope it doesn't get the Bamboo curse.

I think it's something to do with Bamboos actually. So far, over the 30 years my Dad's had 2cvs, and the 12 years I've had them, we've never killed a single engine, except for when my Dad had a Bamboo and it went through 5 engines in 6 months!

Yes, and look at Charlottes too, they are destined for tragedy I think.
