You're right, Ken. Just adding a bit of grist to the mill. ;)

I have seen a heater tube that is 12v powered and sticks onto the windscreen.

I tried the bilge blower thing last winter, didnt really impress me.Took it off and sold it to a customer

What was the problem, are they just a bit underpowered, more of a 'wafter' than a blower? What about the noise, I assume they're quiet?

It just seemed a little, well, flat, which suprised me as they are designed to suck fuel vapours from the bilge and blow it through a vent in the side of a boat.I have been standing by a vent when one has been running, and to be honest,it seemed pretty good, but on my car it was crap.
It wasnt particularly noisey.

My car's got no heater at the moment, what with it having no shrouds or fan, so I'm looking at the possible solutions. I found three possible sources of fans, I assume their power is roughly proportional to the current they draw.

PC type fan from Maplins, 80mm, 0.2amp.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/dc-12-v-sleeve- ... fans-30258

Bilge blower fan, 75mm, 2.5amp.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INLINE-BILGE- ... 4cfbde86b1

Ducted fan unit for model jets, 70mm, 22amp.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RC-3000KV-Bru ... 5adcfa982d

Now that last one should have some poke to it! Might be a bit noisy at full chat, but it could be calmed down a little with a variable speed control.

Ive tried a few 'leccy fans. All been binned. Only decent ones are 240v or too powerful

Joolz,
the only one of those which has a 'cubic feet per minute' rating is the bilge blower.

Even if it did have a rating, the computer fan is likely to be much lower than the bilge blower.
The last one seems to be designed to produce thrust, probably for a relatively short time (until your model helicopter's batteries run flat)...
