BBC chiefs went in to panic again as someone claimed they had seen Rod Hull with his hand up some bird.

Exactly Russ. I can't help but wonder why, if the alleged incidents were SO traumatic, has it taken so many years for these allegations have been aired. If they were that concerned, surely it made more sense to tackle this whilst he was still alive?

dont agree with that.
If he had done what he did to vulnerable young women and children - and even the most vulnerable of the vulnerable, then used his untouchable nigh on living sainthood status to bear on anyone who made any accusations ( and he had paid not inconsiderable amounts of his money to do so as well as threatening to withdraw his charity work), only now is there any way to find a voice. All it took was a few to start for the rest of the victims, who were either shamed in to silence or were trying to move on with their lives to add their voice to add credibility to the stories of the brave few.
I don't think the victims are coming forward as a means to sell a story to the papers to make some money - there may well be some that jump on the bandwagon but there will be many more victims who have bureid the shame and guilt, who are married, are mothers and grandmothers and really do not wish that part of their past to be known.

How would you feel if it were your daughter that had been interfered with while in hospital - would you bring the story to light just to make a buck? i'd wager you would want the sick b brought to justice - even if he had inconveniently died in the meantime.

I'm not saying I don't think he's guilty, I think it will be nigh on impossible to prove anything now anyway, which is why the reaction in the media makes me uncomfortable. I find it hard to believe, however, that this guy was a serial peadophilic abuser of over 300 women (if the headlines today are true) and it wasn't brought to the attention of the authorities sooner and with more severity. He can't be bought to justice and I struggle to see what all of these accusers want to gain now. I'm not condoning his actions (assuming they're true) and I think if he did this stuff it's abhorrent and I would certainly hate to think it could happen to a member of my own family.

I agree with Sean. It's very easy to sit on the sidelines as someone who wasn't abused by the creepy weirdo (and he was a weirdo, even before all this stuff was known) and ask why no one brought this up at the time, but I can imagine all sorts of reasons for keeping quiet about it. Especially if, as is now emerging, some people did make allegations against him only to be told "it happens, deal with it" by the BBC.
