I've had plenty of 2cvs over the years, but only recently did I have similar concerns with my 425 2cv, it's been fine driving to work but the idea of driving it 150 miles to registers weekend filled me with dread and left me quivering. Now I've done it, and it was almost trouble free I'd drive the bastard anywhere. In fact, the fun comes from the fact that it seems to be a proper little Trojan and as yet has been virtually unstoppable. Good luck with getting accustomed to it!

As I said its just me probably, My first run is going to be 90 odd miles so I will be ready for anything by then:D
Just had a Trawl about and i now get the D*lly reference  If its any consolation Within the first week of getting my original one the stanley Blade came out and the sticker off.
A month down the line I found some spanners and It got a lot closer to the tarmac.
Then i found a hacksaw and a Cherrybomb, Some Moondiscs, Whitewall flaps, window tint film (Hey it was the 90s Alroite) Charlston Chrome headlights, Pressed grille like Fred has.
Mountney steering wheel on a home made boss.
and a rediculously large Sound system.
I have grown up a bit since then but i really dont think the red and white will be staying for long.
Fred is going to be my Daily but I am not adverse to a bit of modifying/spannering.
Having a look around this place seems to be a great resource and a credit to everybody here.
I look forward to spending time here and boring everyone silly

Looking forward to it myself. We're not averse to a bit of modifying here.

Yup I do modified, Fred will be gaining Kustom touches here and there as my Wallet (And missus) allows.
It is all a learning curve though, Thats why I joined here really, Well... one of the reasons.
I know lots about aircooled VWs some of it hopefully transferable 2CVs though...put it this way when i was playing last there was no internet, it was all try it and see.

Welcome to our little world. I wouldn't worry too much about long distance driving, 2 weeks ago I left Worcester at just gone 4:30am and by 5pm was in Wick, just below John O'Groats, 571miles away. Easy-peasy

<COUGHS> Hans Ledwinka, (The Tatra Chap) Had a certain Dr Porsche looking over his shoulder at one point.
The shouty bloke with dodgy facial hair liked Dr P's "idea".
VW paid a lot of money in the late 60s early 70s for people to forget that little fact.
So yup Fair point, just lucky they didnt find any TPVs on the World Tour

Tis normal. I think 750 miles in a day is my personal A Series record - that was back from the French/German border to Derbyshire.

Welcome to I2F!

Done a trip to Milan, Italy a few years back.. In one go, with only fuelstops.. 900km's.. Cost us 11h..
2 days later the trip back home.. in 12h due to some slow traffic.

in 2007 from malmo, sweden, to my parents house in Valkenburg, also some 900km in about 12/13h...

Once drove my first 2CV from Norwich to Falmouth - to spend an hour there getting chucked by girlfriend at the time - then back to London all in one go. Foot to the boards all the way. 720 miles! Man, I felt really wired when I finally finished driving, at 7am! (Getting chucked by text is so much easier. Kids today don't know they're born.)

Welcome, Mr Unhinged! Looking forward to seeing what you get up to with your Do11y.
