I'm out. Can't be bothered, too expensive, would rather do other stuff. Ferry ticket is for sale, if anybody is interested.

I'm feeling as if I want to drop out now, but I've bought the tent and all the wanky camping gear for this trip

So If there's a passenger seat available then I'll have it and cover my costs etc

Meteorology ;) I've been doing my own forecasts looking at the surface pressure charts.

It's changing pretty rapidly at the moment, but to answer your question Jon, the cold front (blue, triangles east west across the uk) means that Saturday will be cloudy with some showers. That big area of high pressure (H) between Italy and Africa will sweep upwards bringing with it warm but damp conditions and probably thundery showers.

Bottom left is a low pressure weather system with a warm front (red) followed by a cold front. The warm front will bring cloud and then rain as it passes, but leave behind it warm conditions... until the cold front behind it sweeps along.

The trouble is, the people who interpret the charts tend to try and be too clever and make sweeping statements... that they get wrong. Giving people the impression that weather prediction is some dark and inaccurate art. It's not. Certain weather conditions will always follow certain meteorological conditions so it's pretty straightforward to make an educated guess at what will happen over 48 - 72 hours :geek:

Happily, even that doesn't look too bad now. Let's hope it stays that way. I'm really looking forward to this again now. But Russ, you need to be there too!
