Improving my mpg as I go along by driving more 'laid back'. Averaging 43.3 so far. I've managed 47mpg over a tankful, but that was properly pootling along on French rural roads.

Another way of putting the primary jet in place, if you cannot find a toothpick, is to use a plastic covered wire tie - the sort of thing you use to tie plastic freezer bags and come on a strip of about 20 - you peel back a little of the plastic on one side and its a neat fit then for the jet.......

Alternatively, purchase a 107.5 primary petrol jet from ECAS, install and drive.

Don't bin your old 102.5 jet, as most of mine were 'borrowed' at race events, then drilled out to some unknown diameter or never returned.

my MPG is always pretty shit,
but i just keep my foot down and smile whilst i drive and cry when i realise how much i spend on fuel!

Ken im intrigued by re jetting to give less throttle same speed action, as i have wanted to change, as mine is pretty crap low to mid range gear two... as Fieldmouse will recall

Any suggestion as what jet size to aim for?

i know ive asked that before, but dont recall a definate answer...
On ecas waiting to order to fit sunday (while I have time ;) I)

Got the car inside at work with carb lid off. Took main jet out and the two jets are completely different size (physically)
Got the Haynes manual put to read up to make sure I'm trying the correct jet, but when I take the big jet out is there one underneath?
Ordered a 107 as ken suggested but one I got says 105 on the body of te jet

should have come stuck in a wee card saying "107 - but stamped 105"

the jet you want is at the bottom of the bowl and its a tiny grubb screw not the big one you see on the surface and nothing to do with the ones up on the lid face of the carb

as you stand peering in its the right hand one - take the plug off( 12 mm af) as indicated in the pictures earlier on and poke a small 3mm flat bladed screwdriver in to the hole where the jet looks like it should be =- youll feel the flats

A photograph, if that's any help.

Sometimes wonder when folk say they're having problems with their carburettor and mention that they've 'had the carb apart and cleaned out the jets and it made no difference'.
Maybe they're confusing the air corrector jets with the fuel jets? :?
