You have to set reasonable objectives.... Before you pick up a spanner make a plan, the plan has to be realistic, achievable and time bound.

If you want your car as Citroen intended it, buy and fit an original chassis. If you want to improve it and invest in it, buy a galvanised one and don't faff around painting it. after al, a galvansied chassis can be a good selling point.

If I were you, I qould forget messing with the engine right now. Your aim is to get your daily driver back on the road asap.

Set aside a weekend and get the body off and the new chassis built up with running gear. Yes you're bulkhead may need doing, but as youve already said, getting the body off isn't that bad and you could do it again in the future when the bulkhead really needs doing.

Hmm bulkhead does need doing though
And it is a galvy chassis it's getting just want to hide the fact by painting it black!
I have no where to do it anyway, !
The stainless vent flap is crapped too

Why would you want to hide the fact that you've spent £££ on a decent chassis?

Not to mention forever having to tell people "oh yes it is galvanised, here, let me scrape a bit of the paint off so you can see...."

As a compromise a rattle can of black waxoil would disguise it and you could scrape a smidge off with your finger nail to prove it's galvanized. ;)

Good idea. Didn't know youcould get rattle can wax oil, although I'll use a paraffin gun and spray it. Good idea!
Got tonnes of wax oil plus paraffin gun plus compressed at work!

I find the MOT man don't poke about so much when he sees shiny galvinized chassis. :)

true
right ive played some gta 4 and driven into lots of things

moving forward
so ive worked today to earn the money from my parents to get a new vent flap, thats sorted,
one with a seal already crimped, make it actually work!
whilst ive got the vent flap out, im going to over hall the wipers,
it didnt become apparent just how much play the spindles have in them, its un real!
so im going to order some after pay day, and then probably renew the linkage too
so that would get a few problems out the way
in the coming weeks, im going to study the haines manual, and try and work out how to fit new barrels and pistons,
my only question would be that do i need to get the heads shaved after removing them?
ive got no idea how to fit the new barrel and piston set, i geuss the manifold nuts will cause me some grief, they look rusted solid, although i recon theyll budge...
on my spare engine, the manifold nuts came off a breeze, so ive got a back up plan if it all goes wrong! which luck at the moment, it probably will..
so any tips, are welcomed,
oh my other only question, what do i do if the studs shear off? drill and re tap? (if my spare heads are useless?)
