Ok I've got an easy one for someone!?!?

Turn the key to start engine, engine starts fine turn key back again and engine keeps running...!!!! only stop when wire is taken off coil!!

I suppose this is the fact that I have run a live from the Postive on Battery to the coil?? do I instead need to run a wire from ignition key end to the coil??
or is it something else??

Or is it a problem with the ignition Barrel??

If you've hot wired the coil it will keep running when you switch the ignition off. It is also possible to blow the diodes in the alternator if you switch the ignition off but the engine keeps running.......

Your ignition switch, if it is the original one, will have provision for a live feed to the coil. The easiest solution is to use it...

BTW, if you leave the coil powered up without a running engine for a prolonged period of time it doesn't exactly improve them.

No Probs there as haven't left the battery connected for well over a year now, I always disconnect it after every time !!!

Wouldn't you think there was already that wire in place....from the ignition,
I do still have 2 rogue wires that seems to plug into a little black connector on top of the alternator ( I wander if it is one of those) as without seeing a similiar car?engine I wouldn't know if there is meant to be 3 wires plugged into ya alternator!?!?

As I know on the Dyane there is only one wire!!

Have put a tester on those 2 wires...

1 is live when battery is connector, which seems a bit strange!!!

The other becames live when ignition is switched on...could this be the one that goes to the live on the Coil!!

Anyone have any ideas what the little black connector containing 2 male blade connectors on top of the alternator is??!!?? :?: :?:

Unplugged those wires connected to the alternator and the engine wouldn't start!!

So plugged them back in connected a wire from ignition to coil and bargain...result....

Only problem now is have a nice, great sounding misfire...
bet the timing has jumped out now!!!!!!! :x :x
