Of course, there are retards out there who, despite the plethora of modern lights and high tech solutions to this problem on new cars, STILL don't see them stop, no matter of thier size....

So, shock absorbers are re-fitted. I ended up using a standard 2cv stud, the only difference is the size of the thread holding the shock on, so I used a bigger nut... all seems fine.

I tidied up some cabling...

And moved the cupboards towards the back. I did this because having removed Adrians clever support system they all kept falling off. The solution was to attach the cupboards to some wooden bulkheads that are then braced to each other either side of the rear door aperture, to prevent each other falling off. Pictures may explain this better:

Russ kindly affixed the other rear wing, so for the first time since 1991 the van is now running with actual metal AK350 rear wings :) milestone reached. Cheers Russ - beers owed.

Attached with Rivnuts

I attacked the shonky wheel cover in a far less elegant manner than Viking - with a file. We had to drill the little tubes that take the springs bigger as they were too small, and I widened the catch aperture.

So the catches work :) Cheers Paul (602).

It's pleasing to see that neither trailing edge of the van body is actually straight  How somebody welded it up this off is, almost, impressive.

Getting there, excitement building! :)

Today, apart from fiddling with the Mehari and doing some undersealing I fitted the poche du chef interior.

Hope you like :)

And if you don't, c'est la vie because it my car

The door cards were a bit of a rush job, but they're ok. They make the van a nice place to be. Need to do something with the seats next!

That, my friend, it most certainly is...

So - MOT?

Thank you :) I have lowered the front a bit, but I think that photo over emphasises it. When I've driven it around some more and put the new tyres on I'll re adjust it.

Russ kindly timed it up today and showed me how to set the tappets and change points, etc... It's now going really quite well. Ticks over very nicely and drives beautifully. Very chuffed!

Adjusted the brakes tonight - never realised it was so simple. Must do the rear drums on D*lly too. Now, not only does it go really well, it stops really well :D I also adjusted the handbrake which has paid off. Changed the engine oil too fir good measure.
