Viking,
are you suggesting that it doesn't matter if the rear brakes come on before the front brakes?
Citroen are very specific about which port on the dual master cylinder is connected to which circuit, with Acadianes since 1979 and certain models of 4x4 Mehari being the only ones with the connections at the master cylinder reversed.

Pick one, it doesn't matter. The master cylinder is not working like a ''proper'' dual circuit brake system found all modern cars

This is exactly the point with 2CV LHM master cylinder. They do not work as proper dual circuits but single circuits. Regardless of disc or drums on the front, when hitting the pedal, the fluid is pushed against rear wheel cylinder and front cylinders or caliper pistons at the same time. The rear cylinders can not operate if the front has no pressure. That is only possible if the master cylinder is a proper 2 circuits allowing some pressure in 2 separate closed circuits. If the front brakes fail, you have no rear brakes to rely on, only the useless hand brake unless its drums on the front

I always place the pipe the ''correct'' way (front pipe to the rear) but have seen many 2cv's with the pipes the other way around. I leave them as I find them unless I work on the pipes etc. as it has no effect what way they are connected.

my second picture is the correct way that's with the foremost port connecting to the rears and the port in the resevoir for the fronts

this means that when the pedal is pressed the fronts are activated first

reversal is for vehicles equipped with load compensator valves(??)

attached is a scan of "Maintenance Handbook for Citroen Twins" from "Twin Horse stables" which is composed of various Citroen service bulletins.
