Absolutely. I think there might be a tad too much presumption going on here - fact is, we clearly have no idea what this car is like; it could be a very fine example.

I'd be very surprised (disappointed) if the heavy steering was down to lack of greasing or badly set up steering geometry. I suspect it's more likely a case of comparison with a heavily power-steered Ford Ka.

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting for a moment that beerbunny's chassis is bent. I'm merely reminiscing about the good old days, when no 2CV camp was complete without some bloke who lived in the area wandering across to the camping field and saying "I've got one of these in the garage. The steering's a bit stiff, but I'll sort that out and get it back on the road soon" Er, not when you find out what's causing the stiff steering you won't ...

That ^ certainly wasn't aimed at you, Rhythm, nor anybody else in particular.

The OP is clearly new to 2CVs, and I didn't want him becoming paranoid about what he'd bought, regardless of where it was bought from :D .

Hi
Will be a 2cv owner by this time next week :D ,as regards your 'heavy steering' I had the same problem on my series 2 Airportable Landrover due to the thin steering wheel, fitting a decent steering wheel cover made the steering much more manageable by giving me something a bit thicker to grip.

Right on the money there Andy. The diameter of the wheel is perfect, but its the lack of grip they have when they get used a lot.
What car are you going for?
