Definitely faulty, we've had to ditch one maker (nice cheap rubber but it breaks) and now sell more expensive original stretchy Citroen rubbers.

Ya, we need to ''go back'' to quality produced parts, not cheap shit.
I'm feed up with elcheapo crap but are struggeling to find people willing to produce quality bits. It is very strange as we all know that quality is cheaper in the long run. Look at the rubber in modern tyres, totally useless and not long lasting. Saw a test Nankang vs Continental in slippery conditions, Nankangs didn't stop in time compared to Continental.

Well thats an interesting one. There are two main suppliers of these rings. One sells them at £30 per box of 50 and the other at £20 per box of 50. That equates to 60np or 40np per ring + postage. OK you could say you pays cheap and you gets cheap and i firmly believe that. But 60 np for a short length of rubber with 2 bent clips??? I just can't see the cost justification especially when buying in quantity. Think of the retail cost of various rubber elasticated products like bungee cord or even maritime cords and various other items and it makes these seat bands seem very pricey indeed. I would imagine that the manufacturing process is very straight forward and low cost. I am not suggesting we are being ripped off even at 40np per ring but surely this simple product should be available at a much lower price.

These from Cassis are very good.

From here on, we don't want to supply badly made rubber rings from our supplier any more. We have asked for better rubbers to no avail.

This is what we get all the time

Why bother with cheap parts which last for a very short time. Pay a bit more and get long lasting parts. Problem is to find out which parts will last.

supply and demand.
what you gonna do sit on a beer crate to prove a point?

you can actually take all the hooks of the rubber and lace up the seat using 8mm shock chord available from all crap B&Q stores and ships chandlers etc, bet it doesn't work out cheaper.

The trouble is people just will not pay for quality, all they see is the bottom line. We talked at length about this today at work as we're discussing making a few fire baskets and chimneas, as well as candlestick holders to sell at local markets. The problem is we can't even buy materials cheaper that you can buy the things from eBay, tesco and so on. It's a shame, but people will continue to buy the cheapest product first only to have it fail or to suffer poor quality. Thankfully in this modern age the Internet is full of user reviews and forums where people are happy to share their experiences, but on something like a box of seat rubbers nobody is going to search for a review or opinions until after they've suffered problems. I'm as guilty of this as anybody else, it's just not a natural instinct to research every purchase espescially seemingly foolproof and basic things such as these.

I learnt a long time ago that cheap is crap, it's one reason for fitting Michelins on my car.
