Ironic really. The last time I was in hospital having a spark removed from my eye there was a bang tidy piece of ass doing the job. It struck me that even if she got the spark out my eyesight was likely to suffer as a result of our encounter...

Getting bits of metal picked out of your eye with a needle is a taste one shouldn't acquire....

Nice one James, I had a feeling you were a good 'un. ;) Tell that squeezebox if he's just gonna be standing around like that then he might as well play you a tune ffs. :P Sounds all good. Good luck to the project whatever it turns out to be.

Another fab post, Squeeeze-b.

The whole point about peeps making suggestions re. colour and chassis, etc. etc. is that you can then make up your own informed decision based on - everything :D . Nowt worse than first making a decision and then - when someone points out an alternative - going "D'oh - I never thought of that..."

So, you've clearly made the correct choices on your chassis and colour!

Loving this thread...

Nice one all.

Thanks for comments and Im mighty pushed for time tonight....so just a quickie !!

...but bearing in mind I have an appauling record of heath and safety...(not actually proud of it), but want you to know James was offered goggles !!....

He appears to have returned home none the worse for his day and will bring you up to date soon and next bits of project.....some are worrying as Mrs Squeeze now wants it multi-coloured !!!....

Ken and Russ.....my last hospital visit was for "ark-eye"...(I bet thats not how you spell it).... I cut corners with a hand held mask ....then gave up and just carried on regardless..It was pain like I never had before and in A&E for ages and...I have to get a decent mask...one of those instant things....any suggestions ?

I've only had arC-eye once, put cold teabags on your eyes.

Buy a decent quality (£50 upwards) reactorlight mask.

I suggested a solar powered one as the batteries in my mates auto one always go at the wrong time!

About 15 years since I had a dose of arc eye.
Spent most of the night working my way through a bottle of Bushmills and pacing round the kitchen, as it hurt so much more if you close your eyes.

I'll probably be buying one of the Esab lids from Weldequip on the Mig welding forum, as the Nederman I've had for over 10 years must be getting near the end of its useful life...

Squeezebox, you should definitely get a decent welding mask. Makes welding so much easier, and safer.

Actually I just bought a new auto-darkening welding mask. As coincident happens, I was in a store for something completely different, and happen to find this Speedglas-mask sitting in a corner. It was the last one, and had a 50% discount. After some talk with the manager, I got a 75% discount as she just wanted to get rid of it.I bought it!

It is a quality mask, and I had a quick try when I got home, to see if there was a difference from the old cheap-unknown-brand-mask. IT WAS! So clear and quick! Quite happy with the new one 8-)
