 Re: Engine compression
and cold ones did you have a specific thread in mind with that link? what point are you trying to make:- That you can get an accurate measure of the wear in an engine by testing it cold? There are other people in the world that dont understand how to do a compression test? There are as many opinions as there are people?

 Re: Engine compression
So, to summarise how this works; A compression test can be carried out with the engine cold and the throttle closed. All that's needed is a little imagination to determine how the results obtained correlate to those which would have been obtained if the test had been carried out under the correct conditions? ken

 Re: Engine compression
As I already said, hard to swallow. Yes cold test will indicate under what condition the engine have, when starting. Nothing more nothing less. Cold test has nothing to do with ''your correct test'' I ALSO do and agree with warm test and have never disputed that fact OK. All you need to consider is the benefit of a cold test in terms of starting problems, that's all. Forget warm test

NoMy point is that many folks debate this. No No Yes Suggest you give them a quick read then -most consensus is that you do it hot WOT then as an addition you can add some oil to see if the leakage is rings or other

 Re: Engine compression
A bit OT, but I just watched a man time his car up 180 degrees out. It didn't have much compression. I laughed.
