Let me guess - you're bidding on your own car... :P

Good attitude, O-N - keep looking forward. Very little point in looking back - nice memories, but that's all they are. And all they should be. Life is for now and the future. Tho' often influenced by the past. Ok, full circle alert :(

That little car has provided me with a wealth of experience. It introduced me to spray painting which I enjoy, and made a summer of pleasant driving possible. Consequently I'm very fond of it, and I'd like it to be looked after. Now that prices are high there's a good chance that it will be, so I can move on. Most things have a bright side I suppose, even my illness has the side effect of making me hyper-observant, which in turn shows in my attention to detail.

There are times I wish I could go to sleep for a very long time - indefinitely even. But that'll happen soon enough, so while I'm here I might as well keep doing stuff, and wasting time by messing with old cars makes me smile. :D

Old-Nail,
spotted this post on another forum recently.
As the post was made by 'classic 2CV', there's a connection with the Blue Bamboo, so I thought you'd be pleased to know that the search goes on and on... ;)

How's that for a coincidence? I had a pm this morning about that very same fella. It seems the decision by the then 2cvGb mods and chairman not to allow me to forewarn other potential victims of my experience was a bad call, consequently it has happened again. Well done to all concerned there then.

Anyway, I'm sure those bumpers look better where they are...wherever they are.

Buy the materials and I'll do it. Seriously. Harry too, I enjoy spraying.
I can only use cellulose due to the place I spray but you can still get a cracking finish with it. If I'm not out in the garage spraying then I'll only be roped into visiting garden centres and shit like that come summer.

I've been prepping this thing for paint, which is one of the reasons besides lazyness that I haven't touched the van.

I have 5 litres of Citroen midnight blue (bleu minuit) cellulose going begging of you want some paint. It is the dark blue on a blueberries and cream D*lly.

I've passed one of these every day on the way to work for a couple of years now, its on the road all year round and has a good patina ,and is in french council van beige :P
Took a photo of it ,will upload it later.

I nearly had a replacement 2cv today. Placed a bid on it and was winning right to the last moment.
I knew I needed to up my final bid to stop it being nicked off me but the wife caught me and moaned that as it was in Hertfordshire it was too far away. I didn't up my bid, and lost it for the sake of £20.
Looked a bargain to me for just over £1100, I'll not see another that good for the money.

Seeing I was all pissed off and moody about losing it she went on ebay and 'found' me another one to buy instead - in Jersey! Go figure that one.

Women!

Seem to remember there were loads of these in Canada when I was there in the 90s. Absolutely gorgeous!

Apart from Citroens, I have a bit of sneaky love for old Swedish cars. I've had a couple:

The Volvo was a bit rusty and I was too lazy to do anything about it, so I sold it fairly quickly, but the Saab 96 I adored, took apart and put back together, with an engine that I bought for £50 and reconditioned. I still yearn for that Saab, and weep occasionally when I remember a) that I actually sold it; and b) that I sold it for 300 flippin quid.

Anyone old enough to remember that sound Robby the robot made in 'Lost in Space?' Warning...warning! That's the sound I should have my computer make every time I visit an auction site. It's no wonder the wife has palpitations, look what I've seen now:

I'm a huge fan of pre-mid 1950's American cars, and they just happen to have made a film called Captain Marvel, and are now disposing of some great old cars. Many for the price of importing them. So with petrol at six quid a gallon who's crazy enough to buy a big yank?

I rather like this one myself.
