Salt Water??? i like that idea lol.
Nah, the fake cap is because the original fuel tank would have been under the front panel and sitting above the driver and passengers legs, with the filler neck as i have made this one.
My tank will be in the boot as they are on the 2cv and the filler will be hidden from sight.
I want it to look as close to the real thing as i can make it and sometimes that means i have to weld bits on that have no purpose at all other than to look good.
Thanks for your kinds words though guys :D ;)

Post Re: Sudo Kubel
Hi ....a little bit OT here ....but some years ago [whilst doing a bit of "off-road" motorcycling whilst on holiday in Kefalonia] I came across this in one of the more remote mountain areas ....
Image
[sorry about the quality of the pics, but I aint got a scanner, these are photos of my original pics]
Image
....it was hidden in the remains of an old farm building, where I'd just happened to stop for a ciggie break [a smoke] ......I just took a couple of pics, and thought no more of it until I got home from the holiday.

Anyways .....at the time Craptical Plastics were doing a "Rust in Peace" section where they paid you £25 if they used your pics.
Both pics got published.....I got £25 ... :D
And for months afterwards I was getting letters [from all over Europe :o ] .....asking me exactly where the car was situated.
Now I know why ...... :|

It seemed the one I'd found was a genuine one, left there by Adolf's lads when they retreated from the Greek Islands .....

But the funny part of it was  .......I could'nt remember exactly where I had taken the photo  ...... all I could recall was that "it was somewhere in the mountains, probably between Sami,Fiskardo and Argostili" ......which covers a pretty big area .....

I eventually got p*ssed off with getting letters asking me where the car was,and asked P.Classics not to forward any more.

best regards
Terry ;)

OMG Terry    That looks fab and still in fairly 'solid' condition. Amazing that these things are still out there hidden away. 8-) Cheers Terry, very interesting indeed.

I had to make a new front pipe on the right exhaust because i didnt have enough room for the alternator to fit under the bonnet. The new position allows for the bonnet and alternator adjustment. More work tommorow :D 8-)

Unbolted the front so i can work on the bulkhead and weld in the side plates.

Photo of the new front pipe which i had to make to allow room under the bonnet for the alternator. Ive managed to fit the old heat exchanger alongside it so i can get rid of the excess heat.

Welded up the front sump guard too. This will have slots cut in it to allow the cool air into the fan housing.
