I suppose I should join again, but I doubt I will this year.
As for August being nearly Christmas, If you couldn't sell that car at the World meeting, you'll never sell it.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Sounds like your DD this year was probably taken around the time that Simon 'Old Goat' Mackett took over as memsec, and was wading through the reams of paperwork, outdated hardware, and general confusion that comes with the job. He's just about there now I think, so I'm sure if you did want to drop him an email, he'd be more than happy to sort it out...

This same thing happened last year, they withdrew the cash from the bank by direct debit but didn't connect it with me for some reason, so I paid twice because they claimed I hadn't paid. I realised I had paid after seeing a bank statement and so I claimed one payment back again.
The last mag' I received from them this year was the one with my car on the cover, so it looks like it's happened again, only this time I'm struck down with can't-be-arsed-ness to chase it up, so I'll cancel the DD for the future, they can keep the money from this year to pay for some efficiency lessons. The "They" you so dismissively referred to is actually a human being, a volunteer - like everyone else who runs 2CVGB. It's nice to find out on a forum like this that your efforts are so well appreciated... Instead of mouthing off on here, if you have a problem with your membership, e-mail me and I will try to sort it out. I am now going to have a look back over your record to see what went wrong. Not because I like you, obviously, but because it is what I do and unlike you, I don't suffer from can't-be arsed-ness. Simon

Now now boys, kiss (or should that be shake hands) and make up.
Welcome to this forum Simon.

If you found my tone to be dismissive then I suggest that is entirely due to personal interpretation. 'Exasperated', 'Despondent' or just plain 'Pissed off' would have far better fit the bill. As I sit here I feel the familiar buzz of adrenalin looping around my body, my teeth are grinding, I am wishing that there was much less than a computer screen between us. I have not asked you to sort it out. I don't want you to. Far from any 'mouthing off' you accuse me of in your blissfully self unaware state I have asked for nothing. As far as I'm concerned you can keep any payment I may have paid, roll it in a cigarette and smoke it if you like, or place it in a long tube and then shove it up your ass - sideways, it really doesn't matter. I say this of course not because I like you - I don't. But because I suffer from 'can't be arsed-ness,' a failing I am fully aware of and readily admit to, which is why I will never seek the worthy role of volunteer.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
You know what? I think the world’s gone mad.
I've spent the last evening pacing back and forth, gnawing on my expensive teeth. The absolute worst about telephones or the internet is the lack of someone right there in front of you able to put their views forward face to face. I have been sooo fuc*in’ tempted to just let this lie, but the sheer unprofessionalism of what has just occurred here has been gnawing at me ever since.
First up I'd like to say that although I've never met Simon, I hear he is a decent sort. His daughter is a forum member here if I’m not mistaken? I have absolutely no axe to grind with the man at all. I imagine that under different circumstances he and I could happily share a pint or nine, after which no doubt we could talk bollocks with the best of them.
So what brings a man like that to register on a site he has shown no previous interest in I wonder? Why use his first post to not only breach the data protection act, (hello!) but to also display to all and sundry how easy it is for someone to colour his judgement? Is this the type of guy that should be entrusted as ‘membership secretary’ with many intimate details including names, addresses and phone numbers I began to wonder? Perhaps he might be better employed ‘volunteering’ in a less sensitive area, like say the witness protection scheme?
But I'm being unkind. OK I’m the first to admit that I may wind people up. Sometimes (when the devil in my head insists) I may even do so deliberately, but the views I air are simply my views. I’m entitled to them aren’t I? There's no agenda. If something’s Red then I'll say it’s Red. If you want ‘shades of pink with a hint of orange’ then I’m clearly not your man.
If it was wrong of me to say it as I saw it, if my off the cuff remarks were the cause of such unbridled venom as has just occurred then surely the man advocating that I e-mail him privately with my grievances ought to have followed his own script? It’s bewildering! Simon was obviously irate when he posted, furiously wound up, and I can accept that, but were my original comments so bad as to illicit such a strident reaction? My own take on this is that some fella’s make the bullets while others pull the trigger, and here I feel the hand of those Munchkins in the background, the gossipers and bullets makers of old that have pointed Old-Goat toward a trigger they haven’t the bollocks to pull themselves.
Simon this is addressed to you personally after much deliberation. I believe you to be a decent guy and therefore deserve a fuller explanation. I didn’t follow up on the missing mag’s because I remembered the old adage “Fool me once shame on me – fool me twice shame on you”. This same thing happened last year – I therefore grew tired and uninterested and that isn't a failure on my part.
I don’t blame you for that personally - I never have, just as I didn’t blame Jan your predecessor -hey-ho, shit happens let's face it, but I’m fuc*ed if I’m gonna’ waste any time on this. There is a glitch in the system no doubt (due in part to my complicated life) but I’m pretty relaxed with that, so let it be.
Had you been a member of this forum, or at the very least a regular visitor, then you would have known that this is my last year of 2cv ownership. I have no wish to rejoin 2cvGb.LTD (who incidentally are the ones addressed as ‘they’ in my post) let alone chase up individual volunteers that appear to somehow inhabit a higher moral plane. I’m a knockabout sort of guy, and I except that sometimes you have to roll with the punches. I wasn’t expecting such a barrage from you but I’m big enough to stand it and to offer you my hand in friendship If you chose not to take it, then I won’t suffer, but I will be sad that perhaps a decent fella’ now thinks ill of me due to a band of monkeys too cowardly to show their face. If I upset you personally then I'm sorry, I simply have a low threshold for repetitive fu*k ups.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Jeez people get so irate. Ive known your last name for ages old nail and I assumed after blanking it out on multiple occasions I had assumed you'd rather not it be publicly known. Like I said before. Black and white text can be Mis understood. No emotion too it. Some wording you can tell when the other party is pissed off. Such as in Simons post. Old nail your a kind hearted bloke, like dave I can't wait for your book to be published!! And I'm not meaning to upset, involved, what ever as it's not my business and I can't be arsed with the graft of it all, but people like old nail are a limb to the world of the 2cv. Without him this forum (nonoffence to the other members) really isn't the same. And I'm sure 2cvgb would miss him too. I for one don't see how the strong wording in that post is going to encourage a friendly 2cvgb, and make owning a 2cv being fun and fun to be involved with, and encourage people to renew there membership. Just going to put people off. Yes it hurts to hear your efforts being put down, I've had it a lot at work, but maybe speak to Mr OLD NAIL! before maybe making something public? Maybe there was a Miss understanding? Then again I'm only 17 so await for my telling off from you all for saying that
