Well spotted Joolz - top of the class :ugeek:

We are looking at what we can do, on handling, we now think we have a good responsive car, our two 'Main Race Engines' are good, Its taken two seasons to learn the car - and without a doubt the prep we did for the 24hr race and all the track time I had during the race helped us understand whats needed, I'm looking forward to next season.

Too right,
we worked out that the 'Racing Club-jetted' Weber on the car I spannered for this year was doing about 15mpg in practice, iirc.
The replacement set of jets, fitted on race day morning, had been soldered up and drilled out...

What was that about 'easy availability of jets for Weber carbs', compared to how difficult it was to get hold of those for Solex carbs?

ken.

p.s. Probably worth mentioning that a Weber carb will allow any rain water which reaches the air filter to get inside the carb and collect in a 'sump' directly below the jets.
When this happens, there's a random misfire which can only be cured by removing the water.
If you're not in the know, that involves opening up the carb, whereas those in the know will have a special syringe available to suck out the water.
If they really want to wind you up, they'll only proffer this knowledge after you've spent 15 or 20 minutes pulling the bl##dy Weber apart... :(

I suspect 'go faster' mainly relates to the contents of the fuel tank!

Thanks to Spanners yesterday, the race car ran for the first time since Snetterton apart from the panels being bolted on and giving the car a clean - we are ready for the Autosport Show next weekend.
