I'll share my opinion here, and that's something I usually find doiesn't go down well, but sod it eh, I'm pissed again and couldn't really give a toss about the consequenses:
James, Your enthusiasm is without compare, for that I commend you greatly. You're bang into learning about your 2cv and want to know how to do every job on it. Excellent. We could do with more like you in 2cving.
But, it really wouldn't hurt if you A; looked at your car and tried doing stuff yourself before asking questions, and B; took the excellent advice on board when it's offered here.
The battery will not fit your car, and if it did it'd make bugger all difference to the car starting anyway.
The fuel pipe doesn't need any extra sheathing on it, it'll be fine as it is.

Wow, just read this whole thread. Had to, when I saw it had reached 9 pages, the name of the thread considered! I will not comment in the "thread-related"-stuff. Think most is said, except maybe that there should be pictures. That battery needs a visual appearance I feel But regarding making a homepage, James, I can recommend "Google Sites" if you, like me, cant html-program or have any real clue on how to make a web-page. Many free "web-page editors" out there, but this is by far the best I've seen, and used. If you know how to make you're own the proper way, then "never mind" Just google "google sites" and you should get the idea By the way, if you ever get a dog, name it Gromit.

Just it's hard to explain something like that over tintedweb and if you saw the battery you may feel differently That a side. Thanks for thT, I've been commended for my enthuasum (mum thinks I'm a looser ) Any I've heard the whole gromit thing a million times over . I could for see it almost!
