A quick "hose-down" (always assuming it doesn't just freeze and turn your drive into sheet ice) won't get the grot out of the places it'll do damage, anyway.

where does it "get up and do the damage most" then?
i tend to get on the floor and spray the boot floor not just under the wings, i tend to do everything underneath (well the hole car!!) except the inside

Do you really want a sea of ice down the drive and pavement from hosing down a car in sub zero temperatures? Not to mention frozen door locks and torn rubber seals. Just wash it thoroughly when the temperature rises for a few days, it won't be long.

The point of car wax is to seal the paintwork and prevent nasties getting through to damage it in the first place.

Toomany's idea of a panel per day is pretty nifty! Give yourself that target and it'll soon be done!

I don't see any point in removing the WAXOIL next year - all you need to do is hose it down to remove the dirt on it (which should come off pretty easily), let it dry, and apply a further coat(s).

I've heard that Auto Glym Super Resin Polish (I think it's called) is pretty good. Auto Glym also do a Top Coat Sealant as I've said before - this adds a further layer of gloss AND protection.

Has anyone tried the new type of PTFE-based polishes? Snake oil, or good stuff?!

old nail posted a link somewhere (think in the bamboo thread) of the wax he used, about 8 quid a thing on ebay, he said it was good

i couldnt care if its glossy, just as long as it stops it getting through

Then just spray the whole car with rustproof wax and leave it alone until spring.

i got one of those parrafin guns and tried it with a friends compresser, seemed effective sort of
so is the stuff DA is suggesitng appropriate to be sprayed? or do i just go for some cheaky clear wax oil and remove in spring?

Just take it to the pressure jetter once a week. Job done.
