I shouldn't take the piss, I've done a few of these deals myself, I bought a 1928 Austin a while back that a "mate" told me he'd viewed and heard running. When it turned up it was in a zillion pieces and clearly hadn't turned a wheel in living memory.  The "running" engine was seized solid.....

Re: It's a beautiful day! I was in a bad mood cause it was playing up, I've always wanted a van, now I've got one I'm gonna see it through, the drive home was lovely, not a single hitch!... Except for a burning plastic smell, I'd forgotten to reconnect the front indicator and cable tie the wire away from the exhaust- oops, lil job in the morning before work!
