 Re: 1988 G&W D*lly
It's back!!! Can't believe it's damn near a year since I delivered it back to Terry all freshly welded and MOTd. Anyway, I've got it to MOT and service and the good news is, he's been looking after it well and keeping it covered when not in use and cleaning it when it is. I had a good look over it when I got it back home and all my work is still looking as good and fresh as it did the day I finished it. Of course, it's never really that simple is it? But then again, looks like it may be-all I can find wrong with it is the NS headlamp doesn't work on main or dipped beam and the heater pipes were lying around on the exhaust (I realised that as soon as I released the handbrake so a fire was averted) so should be a nice easy MOT and service. Phew!

You could have cleaned off the bird crap before you took the photo

But I've only gone and washed the XM too tonight, that's most definately enough car washing for me, I hate washing cars. Especially when they don't even belong to me like that G&W "thing". Besides, my sponge doesn't like D*ollies and will probably self destruct first!

Well, it passed it's MOT whilst the tester (me) was being watched over by a VOSA bloke-scary! Advisories were slight play in N/S kingpin and N/S/R tyre cracking due to age. Not bad for a wreck brought back from the dead this time last year.

 Re: 1988 G&W D*lly
Had a call from Terry (the owner of this "delightful" voiture) tonight. Sadly, he's had to give up driving due to arthritis so he's got to sell it. I've given him an idea of value (not an awful lot) and said I'd mention it to folk. It's certainly not the prettiest 2CV around but it is structurally and mechanically sound. So if anybody's after a runaround 2CV to use during the winter to save their proper 2CV (i.e something other than a D*lly! ) from the ravages of the salty roads, let me know and I can pass on details. It'd be nice to see this car getting the love it deserves. And maybe the next owner will de-D*llyfy it?
