Between 60 & 120 flashes/minute is the requirement for the MOT test.
If a bulb's blown, the flash rate speeds up with the alloy canister units, so in theory an extra 21w bulb in circuit would slow it down...

Mind you, isn't it odd that with the hazard lights on, hence 4 x 21W bulbs in use, the flash rate doesn't seem to alter? :?

I think the indicator unit works on min. usage (watts). Adding more usage has no effect.

Replace one 21W with one 5W and you'll see the indicator ''telling'' that something is wrong

The old style flasher unit is just a bi metallic strip. It heats up as current goes through it and bends. when the circuit breaks it cools down and re makes the circuit. Adding bulbs increases the amperage going through the flasher unit; Watts/Volts = Amps

Don't you have double indicators at the back of the 4x4? Could the extra load (3 bulbs per side) be affecting the flash rate?

Tried unplugging the extra indicators and still no better.

Ordered new unit so I'll see if it improves once that arrives.

Mark,
even if the new unit does cure the problem, you could have hours of fun adjusting the flash rate on those old units...
