Just read it again Peter and about the only thing I can see missing is a detailed view or explanation of the order of the thrust washers. Seen so many get this wrong. Even seen set put at the top of the pin. Correct, maybe more info is needed but most people do not have extra shims other than the 2 new supplied with the new set + the 2 old shims. Here is what I say. Quote: After the correct shims are fitted (max 0.4 mm play between the hub and swing arm, use feeler gauges) If one can't understand this photo, don't take on the job

Still waiting for Russ and his team to decide. Should it be a no, no worries from me. I can document what I'm doing on my own car (see Odin post)

I think you have just answered the problem with this topic. You asked for comments about the King Pin thread. I made a positive comment and you write the above. Your arrogance shows no boundaries. There are three "washers" under the cup and the order in which they are fitted is important and often done incorrectly. I was making the point that this small but important point isn't in your otherwise excellent topic and perhaps an additional photo showing the correct order would be helpful. Disappointed

 Re: 2CV school
In fairness 602 I read that and thought it made sense. I remember being asked the same question on the other forum when asking about changing flywheels, 'Was I competent enough to do the job?" And I took that to be a valid point, as no end of instructions will help if a man has absolutely no idea in the first place (as I hadn't). BTW I still changed the flywheel.

Disappointed Point taken Paul but you need to think for yourself too. You can't document every single little detail, it would take ages. It has nothing to do with arrogance but a constant balance about what to write and what to leave out. My point is if you can't see how things are put together (at the Citroen factory) and put it back the same way, you are not skilled enough to master the job.

 Re: 2CV school
If I had my camera to hand I would show you the three "washers" under the cup and the order they should be fitted. We just covered king pins on the last 2CVTech course and everyone on it thought that the job was well within their capability once they had seen it done and they got to do it a couple of times on the cars we have here.
I think I am just a bit pissed that V asked for comments and when he got one just rubbished it. Which is I suppose where this topic has led to.

Why don't you take the photo, make the text and post it in the king pin tool section. Other people have asked questions and things been added afterwards. C'mon Paul no one is stopping you

 Re: 2CV school
My camera is in Cyprus along with my wife. Just remembered my phone has a camera. Not sure of the quality of the pic but below are the "washers". The order is from left to right. Its important the thrust washer [made of a different material] is is in the middle i.e. a sandwich between the two steel washers.

 Re: 2CV school
you need to say " assemble the washer stack as follows ,from the bottom to the top...plain sintered fluted washer plain then dust cap"
think thats what 602 getting at
but there we go
