I also like the idea of sharing tips. There are so many ways of keeping cars in good shape and most of them don't come from Haynes.

Isn't the idea of sharing tips behind having an internet forum?

It's one of the few good reasons for visiting them certainly, and instructional posts such as those that Viking proposes would be invaluable. The tips that I refer to are different, perhaps less instructional as they are optional. The sort of thing that often doesn't get shared much because nobody thinks to ask.

Example: I recently lost the spacer in my headlamp bar adjuster, and Ken suggested that the metal tube bonded within an old gearbox mounting rubber would fit perfectly - and it did. 8-)

Those kind of gems are worth knowing too, and there must be thousands of them between us. It all depends on the individuals willingness to write them up, and I applaud Viking for his offer to do just that with his. :D

Post Re: 2CV school
What a lovely day it is on this forum today. Lots of rosy words and positive feed back, thanks to all. Harles, the old 2cv OZ forum is wipped out and deleted for good. Gods know how many hours I've used uploading text and photos. The new forum 2CV Club Australia is struggeling getting people on board, mainly due to lack of cars ( 2cv people down under). This forum is just so good with a mix of people from all walks of life + some none UK folks. We are some professionels here, from time to time with heated debates. Nevertheless all in the same family. It is a hard one to decide, should 1 person write everything, should 2 or 3 people write or leave it open for everybody. I would like to believe that 1 is better and when finished open the post for debate. Like 602 is saying, some sort of one way street is needed, otherwise the post is in risk of being a dog fight. Let the lordships (Adm) decide if they want such a catagory? Keen to hear their views

Agree with that Peter. If those with the power on here can agree some rules/format, then I too will make an effort to contribute.

paul wont this put you out of business?? ;)

i think its a great idea.
maybe have a modertator of the sub forum, and say i changed, the oil pipes which i am soon, if i did some pics and a write up, sent it to mr mod, and they use it at there discression and/or edit it, to make it usefull, that way maybe a less likelyhood of conflicts in opinions??

We'll have a chat 'behind the scenes' and see if we can thrash out some plans. I really like this idea and I think we'd be daft not to try and do something along these lines. It would be a credit to this forum and no doubt sharing the knowledge and publishing it can only be of benefit to 2cv owners. We'll be in touch...

i think it has to be moderated and people have to be restrivtive though, otherwise it will be a dog fight of opinions, or on the other hand, if everyone gives there fair share of advice, and expierence, the reader can decide which one sounds the most suited at there descression,

If a thread is being written then you just delete (moderators) other post to it.

Keep it clean and just have the instruction/pictures no toing and froing of comment/opinions.
Keep them for a seperate thread.

Better is to lock the thread until job, photos and text is completed, then open the thread for questions etc.
