 Re: Odin
Instead of ''repairing'' the top edge, I've decided to stitch in the famours re-inforcing plates on both sides. While the paint and rust protection is drying on the backside of the plates, the spring pots are giving a bit of service. It is always nice, should the bloody thing break on the raid, that things just screw on and off without any worries. It make sense to do it now that the body is off. The 2 front tie rod end eyes had to be cut off. The inside thread swollen not allowing the rods to turn. Spring pots mountings also rusted, only way is to chisel the nuts off. Force and/or heat is a waste of time. That's enough for today. Attachment:

 Re: Odin
Looks like good work, amazing this French thing of taking a chassis apart to repair it as you can't replace with non OE. It makes you really do a proper job on an original chassis restoring it to original, or better in this case! By the way, what are those miniature dutch clogs inside the chassis, the backs of the drilled out welds or something? BTW great name for an old Dane van

If the chassis had it, I would have replaced it but this original chassis is in very good condition (1974). The Dutch clogs are nuts stored for rainy days by ''little people'' My other cars are called Viking Duck Viking Van Thor and now Odin. If I ever get another sedan, it will be a she called Freja Attachment:

 Re: Odin
Did you leave the "little peoples" nuts inside the chassis when you restored it ? They might come looking for them !

Also removed the arm to inspect the bearings. Little wear on the inside, hardly any on the chassis side. Attachment:

New brake pipes fitted, fit for raid fighting. Don't want to lose fuel line going through rough terrain. Attachment:

 Re: Odin
It's nice to see how stuff like friction dampers look when taken apart. Many of us have never had the chance to do that.
