Oh yes, please ship the stickers over thanks, Luv'em
The Citroën dealership decided to participate in the cross circus. After much debate a brand new yellow 2cv was stripped completely for “unnecessary” new parts and we began to build our new racer. It was great fun to build such a 2cv. When finished, off we went every second week-end from early summer to the end of October. Remember working at night on broken suspension etc while the snow came down. Bloody cold but we had to after each session as most cars were smashed up. Imaging 25-30 cars taking off trying to get in to the first corner avoiding all the turmoil. Well the spectators loved it, we didn’t…
I’m hoping to get back in to cross racing again but need to learn French first. Any cross in the UK? could be a real option, plenty of old rotten 2cv around in the UK??

Hi Viking. I've just decided that you're going to be my new inspiration type person!

Well I am honored to read your post. Don’t really know what to say..!! I have always envied people who could live of their hobby or should I say passion.
Decided one day to try setting up my life working around the 2cv. It has taken lots of blood, sweat and tears; I am not still there yet. Hopefully one day I/we can make a reasonable living and go raiding around the world. We are not looking for big money, just a happy 2cv life. Maybe we fit the group of quirky 2cv people well, we don’t mind, we like it.
You know many people write, happy ducking etc etc, well we do that. We have met so many lovely, helpful and happy 2cv folks and we try to return and share the same passion. Happy ducking to you too, enjoy the beast. See you on the road one day Image
Cheers
Viking

Hi everyone - just joined, what a lovely place! Thanks to Brian for the intro.

I've previously owned a lhd 2cv in a field (my first car - £50!), a nice 81 Dyane (my 'real' first car, much missed, sold in 1989) and tried to build a 3 wheel under-developed kit car called a BRA Leighton a few years ago on a Dyane.

I must be mad. I want to build a sort of replica of the 50's Barbot speed trial speedster car. Current thinking is to build it up from a decent rolling chassis rather than destroy a passable car. My 7 year old is a petrolhead and loves 2cvs so I figure he can do most of the work.

All advice, help, insults, etc. appreciated.

My fave car on here is Russ's red Ami - Iovely!

Hi Tom!

Good to have you here, it'd be nice to see somebody do a good replica of the barbot, IIRC there's a fella runs MWR Citroen in london who has one, it was at Snetterton 24hr race this year. There's a lot of features that folk don't notice or replicate when they build barbot type things!

Cheers!

I think the guy's name is Mark - his car is easily Google-d. I spoke to him a while back and he said it cost near £10k to make. My aspirations are lower! But stance, colour and feel have to be right.
