True, but im omly saying its cheaper yo find out ts choke before buying a tester, a agree that compression could be a factor, but one should start with the cheaoer options like choke :) there about £20 i believe? Worth having one anyway

Post Re: that bl**dy d*ly wont f*ing start in the f*ing rain
It is not always easy to pinpoint problems especially sitting in front of a computer.
However in my book, unless very obvious always start trouble shooting with the combusting area (compression, valves etc) if no trouble or things sorted move on to electrics (points, timing, coil etc) again if fixed or no trouble here, move on to fuel and air (carburetor, filter etc)
It makes no sense to as seen so often to head straight for the carburetor (unless obvious fault) if the problem is elsewhere and visa versa.

This is after all an International friendly 2cv forum where enthusiasts are looking for help and where some professional are indeed giving their advices on problems. These advices may not always be correct or may sometimes sound like ‘’ I Mr know it all’’ but so be it. We are humans and some may not master English to perfection.
Now I’ll stick my neck out here and happy to take the criticisms but why on earth become personal just because one doesn’t agree with what’s written.
I’ll admit that I’ve learned heaps here and are grateful for that. I rather be a fools for 5 min. that the rest of my life. Have a good day

Thanks for all the replys, been at work so haven't had a chance to have a look at her until late last night when she happily started, took her for a nice little run out around town and back and she was completley fine, my other half says that he can smell petrol but I have a terrible sense of smell and wouldnt have noticed!
Of course it is raining today, just my luck, so taking it to my men in wishaw tomorrow, weather permitted. Will keep you all updated.

Dont worry it wasn’t minded at you in particular but on some peoples desire to attack the man instead of the ball. Disputes are OK just like real life but ‘’to put someone down, is to make yourself better’’ we are all in this to enjoy it and to contribute not to have a go at each other.

Is it worth mentioning that the heading of this thread is
"that bl**dy d*ly wont f*ing start in the f*ing rain"?

Each post artyclarty has made mentions rain as the ( apparent?) reason for the car's failure to start, so I wonder why so many replies are concentrating on problems which can be experienced in cold weather?

Reminds me of the story about a fellow who took his 2CV in for a gearbox problem to be checked over. When he went to collect it, he was presented with a bill for an MOT test.

No big problem, except that the existing MOT wasn't due to expire for about 9 months...
