Post wierd water coming from somewhere
so iwas working on the rear of the car today, and at the bottom by the bumper, where there is a lip (below line of boot floor) there was one area where there was a rust stain (the type where waters been flowing over and stained it) so i decided to grind away as i hadnt got the red oxide up, so there was a bit of bare metal, anyway so i was doing that all fine, and i dried the car (it rained last night) and every 5 minutes, above the right hand bumper baracket, from where tha lip is, a droplet would emerge, so id wipe it away, 5 mins later, another, so anyway after swearing at the car and several house later, assuming it had dried out, i finally paint it, then about 5 mins later, a buble in the paint, where the water ran down :|

so i again wipe away paint, let it dry out, and paint again later, more water and another buble

argh

anyway im not as angry as i was then,
any suggestions?

i dont want to paint it if water is being trapped, but where the hells it coming from?!

but at the same time i dont want to leave it so that the metal is open..

I love a guessing game.

Is it from the foam that is sandwiched betwixt body and chassis?

there's probably loads of water in the joint there, only leaving it in the warm and dry would really get it out, i think.

so where actually is it coming from? ive left it open to air, so i will probably soon get it finished up and sorted

also i get water in the boot,
1, back of boot floor by light panel,
2. in the middle in random drops
3. by drainage hole

normal? / related?

its never been a problem before, you mean behhind the lights??

well it pissed down laast night, so im going to let it dry out over the weeekend

is there a quick way to blow water out with compressed air or something

im going to take resar lights completly off today, and see whats going on, and maybe onre fitting put some windscreen sealent round (all ive got and it doesnt go rock solid!) and really seal them up well

hopefully thatll stop it!

WD40 .....alledgedly,the "WD" stands for "water displacement".
Having used WD40 on your panel,it will leave an oily/greasy deposit .....but considering that it'll be inside the double skinned panels where you cant get to paint it anyway,I cant see that it makes much difference.
Just dont try to paint over the WD40 on the exterior of the panel.

Post Re: wierd water coming from somewhere
all this rain isnt really helping tbh so cant sort the leak out and take rear lights off.... not enough room in the garage to do it

and its raining sideways which never helps

got in the car, and then suddenly a load of water pissed out above the dash onto my right foot

came from the flat lip under vent flap, my recconing is vent flap leaking again

so going to do my mr fandango tempory fix it job later when its dried out, and grease it up again,

it wasnt a huge amount, but it then ran down the insulation and came out by the chocke cable i believe, if this happens often, how much insulation will have soaked up water :o

when i first got the car, just before we brought it home, ti had been outside for about 2 days and it had rained, and the car leaked, when i got it home, i took all the matts out dried completly, and then i saw that the insulation was when if i pushed it, (a small area by the toe board) so i pulled it out, and i squeezed about a half a pint of water from where id pulled the insuation out, how much more is like this

that was in feb, and thats why i think the toe board is v rusty, from where waters been sitting there

is tehre any other "hot spots" like that in the car?
