" Modern gasoline engines have an average efficiency of about 18% to 20% when used to power a car. In other words, of the total heat energy of gasoline, about 80% is ejected as heat from the exhaust, as mechanical sound energy, or consumed by the motor (friction, air turbulence, heat through the cylinder walls or cylinder head, and work used to turn engine equipment and appliances such as water and oil pumps and electrical generator), and only about 20% of the fuel energy moves the vehicle." So, if a 2CV engine with 8.5:1 pistons is rated at 21 Kw (= kilowatts), where's all the rest of that heat going if your car is too cold? Mind you, looking at the state of the heater tubes on some cars, it's not hard to guess. Why do folk insist on cutting the tubes down, so that they're barely hanging in position, or need to be 'secured' with jubilee clips? ken

got the draft excluder, 15 metres for £2.99 or £3.99 (cant remeebr which) and it works a treat, although i noticed it does soak up a bit of water, oh well  would this be any use round the doors etc, or would it soaking upabaility be more of a nesence than a god send?

If the doors let in a draught then adjust the doors, sticking draft excluder round it is a waste of time. If you want a totally warm, dry and draugh free car buy a Merc. That's what I did when I wanted one.

ive adjusted the doors, but now i have to slam them to get it shut, and theres sill a small gap at the bottom!! i adjusted it on the car side, is there an adjustment on the door side? im not after total warm draugh free car, just it annos me i can fit my hand out the bottom of the door nearly.. and ahh bugger, if id only known, oh well, never mind, its only on glass at the end of the day and glass wont rust to much

If you've adjusted the doors and there's a hand sized gap, you haven't adjusted them properly. Espescially if they don't shut.

its not a full on hand size, but a gap as such, its got to the point where i have to open the window and grab the door and hoon it shut (but not to much,) it wont shut if i where to pull it by the stap, need more leaverage..

Ah ok, well in that case if you've adjusted the doors and there's a hand sized gap, you haven't adjusted them properly. Espescially if they don't shut.

hmm...
if i more the plate on the frame of car in any more the doors wont shut (cant get onto the carch) so i shall see if i can adjust it on the door.. as aposed to adjuting it more on the car

James, why did you adjust the doors? Here's a tip from someone who learned the hard way...
Don't Mess!!! Unless you really really have to!!
I had mega problems with mine after the wind blew the door right back, it took me forever to get the door to shut anywhere near where it should, in the end there were shims everywhere!
I get really irritated watching the footage (maybe on here) of a 2cv be made and the guy just throws the doors on, zap zap zap with his driver and off it goes! Grrr
Also, it's a 2cv... as a passenger of mine once said: "You're so much closer to the weather in these aren't you?"
