Post wiring help
I'm trying to get my car running (75 2cv) but it's having none of it. Got petrol, so I'm assuming it's spark issues.

Firstly, I've had this running in the past (six months ago) but now it doesn't want to fire at all. It's got a 123 fitted, and I'm trying to get the wires all connected. I've got two wires coming from the loom - both of which are green with a white plastic coating. The coloured tag has faded over the years, so both of these appear to have a white end - how might I track which one I should be connecting to the power lead for the 123?

Thanks, Ben

Ben,
whichever wire goes live when the ignition is switched on?
The other one is most probably the n/s indicator feed.

Anyway, time to lash out a fiver on a cheap multimeter, I'd reckon... ;)

Thanks Ken - I've been poking around with my multimeter but I'm getting no luck. I think I'll have to spend another £5 on some wiring connector cleaner! I suspect after 35 years, the connectors are getting a little long in the tooth now which almost certainly won't be helping me out!

Turn all the lights and indicators off, turn ignition on. The wire that's live is the indicator feed.

surely the wire that's live with indicators off is the ignition feed?

Anywho, I've worked this out now. It's sparking now, but still no joy. Petrol squirts out of pipe disconnected from carb when I blow into the tank (I didn't think it'd work, but that's so much better than sucking the petrol through!).

If I crank over a few times, I notice that if I pull the petrol pipe off the carb, it sprays petrol like it's under pressure. Presuming that it's not supposed to do that, and the float is empty, I think the valve that opens when the float is low has stuck shut. I just took the filter out of the carb and sprayed some carb cleaner over it. I'll take the top off the carb later and give the jets etc a good clean.
