Post Re: Maximum Tyre Size
I think you're going to need more than bigger tyres to counteract the hideous handling. On my/spanners sidewinder it also understeered badly but even with 145 tyres it didn't go round corners. I reckon some modified front arms with a bit of negative camber might help, and some smaller tyres with stiffer sidewalls, maybe from a smart car or similar will be a better bet for grip than just putting big tyres on.

I migh be wrong, but having used smart tyres on my current 2cv, it's remarkably good, but I don't think a stock 2cv has enough weight to take advantage of them.

They are for the sidewinder - it understeers like a pig with 145 Firestones and any 145 x 15 are a real pain to source.

To just mention something thats sorta come up about the narrow rear ami super track. I understand t was accepted practice back in the day to mount a 2CV rear axle to put the track back to normal.

How badly does that sidewinder understeer with 145's on then? The three ive driven/owned or whatever seemed fine on 135/145's respectively. Has it got a 5 speed box putting more weight forward at all?

To be fair - it is probably no worse than any other sidewinder, its just not a 2CV and the current tyres are somewhat old.
