Post Coil ohms
I drove my 2cv round last night on a suck it and see basis with the bmw engine fitted . It has electronic ignition but as I did not have a coil I put a 2cv (2nd hand ) 3ohms? one on and it seemed fine .. Today it seemed reluctant to start so I put a visa 2nd hand one (0.6 to 0.8 ohms I think) on and it starts fine..before ibuy a proper bmw one Im curious .Im not sure of the ohms needs of the BMW but if its requirements are 2 ohms is it more likely to be damaged by .8 ohms or 3 ohms Because if 3 is not a problem I would rather buy a harley one because I can use it on other vehicles if neccessary

Kevin,
the higher resistance (3.5 ohm) coil is safer if you don't know what the exact requirement of the BMW ignition unit may be.

Once you find out what's needed, there's a range of stock Harley coils to choose from...
The points type ( 31609-65A ) are 4.5 to 5.0 ohms and the electronic ones (31614-83A ) are 2.3 to 2.8 ohms.
