Joolz, it's has to be on the road within the next pair of weeks; it's my transport to Snett! :|

Gay_Joe - the bloke that was flogging it was a proper chump. Bent as a roundabout & i have a feeling i may've dropped him in it after he told his 'partner' he was away on business in the next town, but told me he was visting a 'friend' in Brighton!

Post Re: Running problems!
just to follow on from yesterday...

I dropped the tank earlier - took me 50% less time as there were only 2 bolts holding the tank in! One on the axle had snapped & one on the chassis was missing!

To be fair the tank isn't actually too bad - i strained the contents through a pair of tights (not mine) & although there was a fair bit of carp, it wasn't as bad as i'd anticipated. The pipe on top of the sender was ronnied (surprise, surprise). remade the earth lead as it had been lengthened with a choc block & the excess wire wrapped around the chassis leg! WTF?! I took the fuel pump out and found a lot of debris inside. I think there's a lot of water in the fuel for some reason, so i'm gonna walk up the garage in a bit & get myself 5 litres of fresh fuel rather than stick the strained stuff back in. I've renewed all the fuel pipe now & fitted an inline filter. 'Borrowed' a couple of litres of fresh fuel off my old man & it fired up first time.

Hopefully this will cure it's running probs!

Neil.

Nice photo of the crap in the valves of the fuel pump, thats what does for them in the end, it quite unusual( but not unknown) for them to mechanically fail.
