yes, a lot of attention, people stop to take pictures, a lot of thumbs up. the carpet is nylon, so doesn't suck up a lot of water. cleaning is done by a water hose, easy and simple.

the plymouth is a beast, didn't notice the trailer with the dyane at all. needs a liter of fuel every 5 kilometer and a lot of tlc... to many projects ;) .

only just notcied this thread so thought id introduce myself after all these months

most of you know im james,

17 (bought the car when i was 16 but only just before my 17th and passed 6 weeks after my 17th), from chichester, west sussex,

always loved 2cv's,
strange story into how i "met" my first 2cv, but ill enlighten you all!
i have always had a strange obsession and liking to snoopy (as in peanuts!) and if any of you have seen the film bon voyage charlie brown, then you will of seen this features a 2cv. this set me off on 2cv's from the early age of about 2!!
and incase your wonding wtf im on about in snoopy
here you go
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8jFRhS8hmg

ive always had a few model 2cv's which my brother used to play with in the bath :x
but thats part of growing up!
anyway i grew up pointing and smiling at the few 2cv's i saw around, and always wanting one
then when i reached the ripe old age of 13, we had some new neighbours move in, and they had a 2cv, used to enjoy sitting in it, anwyay it was in pretty bad nick, so after a few months it was SORN and after a few more months he took me for a quick spin up our quiet road in it !

he then gave it to me but as i wasnt old enough to own it and it would of been pointless etc a friend of mine and i decided the only option was to sell it, as there wasnt space to store it etc,
so we sold to some punk rocker who wanted to drive it from chichester to london with no tax mot or insurence and then never showed up anyway much to our relief

anyway not to ramble on we sold it to someone else..

i now own an 88 e redge red and white D*lly 36,000 when i bought it, 2 owners from new which where mother and daughter! always kept inside and was used for the last 15 years as holiday car, did 28 miles between 2 mot's one year!. (got a post about it my car)

nice to meet you all (already met mr vent flaps in person and had a go kart race!)

and hope to see you all at the national this year if i can make it!

sorry if i bored you

Just discovered this thread as well - bit late but oh well
I'm George...er...16....and generally into anything old, French and ridiculously under-powered.
50cc, 40 year old french mobylette seemed the obvious starting place
And a staggering 602cc, 32 year old French 2cv seemed the natural progression
The beast when I got it;

And again after my improvements;

Anyway, it's slowly being restored. Hopefully I'll be at the UK national. Not old enough to drive my van there though :(
Oh and has anyone seen the film Belleville rendezvous? Mafia driving stretch 2cv's? That's where I first encountered them. :D

Slightly late introduction, but I've had this problem with 5 forums now, and decided I would introduce myself once at least!

George

Welcome George! ;)

Don't be afraid to post larger pictures - we like to see what we're looking at! :)

There are, I think, 7 George's in my year :D

I would provide bigger pictures but me and photobucket don't really get along. Most of the time it provides really tiny pictures, much smaller than the original. Then for a few days it gave me some pictures that, while smaller than the original, were at least a decent size. And now it wont let me upload anything. Bloody linux operating systems
Anyone know how to set the default picture size on photobucket?
This is the only 2cv related picture from the 'big' series...

Both the monsters visible there :P

I do envy those of you with workshops though - welding 1mm metal, to 0.8mm metal, with a useless mig that only goes down to 50 amps, in the rain, in 40mph winds. Couple of mig 'hedgehogs' visible on the other side I'm afraid

Browsing through the threads and came across this one... thought it would be suitable to post on first!

I'm Patrick (although most of you will get that from the name), I'm 16 and live in Malvern which is near Worcester.

Cars and bikes are the two main things in my life - since dad has been racing 2cvs since before I was born so have grown up around them really. I raced karts until I was 13 then raced Saxos for a season until I wrote it off it the last race of the season! :S So am currently on sabbatical from racing so am doing much more mountain biking instead which is awesome but not as good as racing! Will hopefully be getting a 2cv which me and dad (Edward Mason) will race although this was a sometime maybe in the future plan unfortunately but who knows...!

Was put on the site by Louis Tyson who I have known all my life as I am gently looking around for a 2cv as I will be able to drive next march! :)
