Post The Stelvio pass.
Has anyone here driven it in a 2cv? And if so which way - up it or down it, and what was the lasting impression?

I took my old AZU250 over Stelvio (I've also done it in my BX Turbo diesel) and it is fantastic, trully awesome.

I'll dig out some photos at some point-amazing! 8-)

I should add that most of it was taken in first gear and it was slow but, it didn't matter because it gave me a chance to look at the scenery. ;)

We also did Furkha and Grimsel and then through the Dolomites after Stelvio. Beautiful, wish I was there now actually.

we did it last year on the way back from the world meeting. We went up the italian side and down the swiss side. It was an achievement. It was first gear all the way due to having all the camping gear in and we stopped for a rest approx 2/3rds of the way up coz clover was getting a little hot. When we reached the the top all the bikers that had overtaken us on the way up gave us a round of applause for making it. The scenery was stunning and the run down the other side was even better but you have to look after your brakes tho

I have, but whenever I drive roads like that I'll reach for the keys of something more powerful than a 2CV.

The Stelvio is well known, if you're in that are that area I love the less famous Splügen pass.

Ladies and gentleman, I give you - The Stelvio Pass. 8-)

I've been on fairground rides that were less appealing than that.
I've wanted to drive that pass since I was a kid yet never did get round to it, given half a chance I'd even go down it on a push-bike, with my legs stuck out and a knotted hanky on me head! :P

I know it's a well known road, but it is definitely one of those to do before you die things. Given the choice I'd prefer to take a motorcycle, but I will take a 2cv. (and lots of photo's) I think it might have to be tagged on as a slight 1000 mile excursion from next years WM, well just look at it....how could you not? Raid Stelvio 2011 is born.
