Paul, have a look at Portafold folding caravans (IIRC that's what yours is isn't it Tom?) they are light enough to be towed by a 2cv and are pretty cool looking too.

I came across a Portafold caravan at a local meeting at the Aylesford Friars. The owner towed it behind his 2CV and claimed it didn't effect the car's performance too much although when challenged to take her up nearby Blue Bell Hill, he declined. The caravan was delightfully laid out inside.

I'm trying to weigh up building a teardrop trailer and although they can be light, anything which adversely affects my car's modest 'performance' would grate with me. We've had a couple of caravans and even towed one to Brittany and back behind a Proton. Towing a caravan seems to be a matter of 'frame of mind'. Once you get over the frustration of not being able to do all the things a car can normally do unhindered, it's acceptable.

So Tom how many series does the Puck come in and what is the differences between each series?

I believe the first version (lightweight one) has no brakes. The second version that looks the same is braked but heavier.

To stop or not to stop that is the question...

We've all had the problem of D*ck-H*ads pulling out in front of us in our 2CV's because they "Dont want to get stuck behind that" .....["that" being you in your 2CV].
Now I can tell you [from many years&miles experience] ;) ......with a braked 300kg trailer tent on the back which most of the said D*ck-H*ads cant? :? dont? see .....the problem is twice as bad [double the amount of d*ck-h*ads].
Now imagine the problem with a Caravan ......which is clearly visible to all the said D*ck-H*eads.
They'll be jumping out like bl**dy lemmings in front of you :o
You need a braked trailer!

Agreed - and the unbraked towing limit of a 2cv is only about 200kg anyway.

Try explaining that to the 10 mile queue behind you!

Much love, Louise.

On the A64 in Yorkshire on Wednesday, I was overtaken by a Rover 75 towing a caravan at about 70mph, going down a long straight. It was rather windy at the time, and I could see the caravan swaying gently, side to side  Well the gentle swaying very quickly got out of control , there was smoke coming off the caravan tyres :o and it was very reminiscent of a bucking bronco, how the hell the mature gent driving the 75 managed to get it under control is beyond me. I don't often feel scared when driving, but I was right shitting myself at that moment. I just very quickly raced past and ensured he couldn't overtake me again, which wasn't easy...I was towing the Combi-Camp at the time.

Heading up to the Lindisfarne Easter camp a few years back, there was a lot of cones on the A1. Down in a dip, there was a Volvo V40 parked in L1 with a caravan behind him. On it's side. With the Volvo still hitched up, and the rear wheels about 3ft in the air...
