Post Re: Oops! Oh Poo! Engine stuck!
i know it was only reved shortly but it didnt over heat you think and sieze, and maybe score pistons semi siezing or what ever, cos if the engine got really hot suddenly (well piston did) but the actual bit piston sits in (temonology please, its exscaped me, was only today i was taking an outboard engine to pieces due to low compression, but lets not viere of topic!)
where the piston got hot suddenly and the THINGY didnt, then could of siezed, and where it will only move a few teeth could be scoring?

another stab in the dark  but with a torch this time :D

Obviously imos engine hasn't got the Kent cam, so hopefully just a couple of new valves. Wondering how easy the flywheel is to turn that few teeth? I hasn't sheared the bolts has it?

I have to admit to being very baffled. How would a bent valve (or two) prevent the engine being turned EITHER direction - especially when the pistons are already at TDC?

Imo - was the oil pressure light doing what was expected? On when the ignition was first turned on, then going off when it started, and staying off?

Yes it was and still is when everythings connected up (strangely it didn't on the old engine... but it always started and ran as well as it did!)

If nobody knows what's up I'm going to go out and start hitting things with a hammer... if the things shagged in some strange way... how much damage can I do?

Not wishing to piss into the wind here, morbid curiousity forces me to ask. Could a bent valve be jammed into the guide? Preventing valve train, cam and crank from moving?

Wouldn't that just prevent it moving one way, though? Anyway, with the pistons at TDC, all four valves'd be closed and staying that way for a big chunk more than a couple of flywheel teeth either direction.

I've got a feeling this is going to be nasty. If the flywheel turns quite smoothly over it's 4/5 teeth and always by the same amount, then it could be that a piston is locked up at tdc, but the crank is just rocking either side. Other possibility, if the flywheel movement feel irregular, could be one of the bearing shells in the middle. I can't see why a couple of seconds at WOT would cause either to fail though. But I think it's time to pull the heads off and see what you find.

Both pistons at TDC, so both valves each side...?
