are you not allowed to run the 'Belgium' Arm type then?

No, not as far as I'm aware, and I'm not too fussed about going to the extra effort of making them either.

That's both front arms made, and both sets of spring cans modified.

Only a fuel pipe and the front-rear brake pipe to buy (possibly in brighton on sunday) and I can start the build up!

I loves welding, me.

haha cheers. I'll tosh them over with a bit of red lead and then the same orange as the chassis, I can't powder coat them because the greas will ruin the finish, and I've taken the piss at work a bit recently anyway...

Post Re: 2CV Crosser
Thanks.

The gearbox is heading off to 'The Guru' to be sorted for disc brake use, it's a fair outlay of cash for something that'll ultimately get totalled in a field in France somewhere, but I'm trying to turn this car out nicely, something I've always been amazed by is walking round the pits at race meetings and seeing people working on cars before the racing. Even if this car does half a lap of practice and is comprehensively destroyed beyond recognition, I'd rather it looked, and was good to start with.

Tomorrow I'm going to the London to Brighton meeting and will get the last few bits for the chassis and maybe a rear 1/4 and A panel to repair the shell with.

It's actually starting to cost me money now, but the other option is to rock up with a heap of shit that's obviously 'shoestring' or not do it at all, and neither of those options appeal to me...

Thanks, if I'd done them with my piss poor 150 amp Clarke mig then it would have been a different story!

Post Re: 2CV Crosser
Something I've been wondering more about is the weight of the car. The engines must be 100% standard, so the only way to gain any advantage is by making the car lighter. Until I spoke to Seb and saw his car I wasn't aware of the lengths they go to to make the cars lighter, for example fitting suicide doors as they weigh less than front hinged doors, cutting the rear light panel away to a single skin, replacing the rear wings with disposeable fibre ones (as I've bought)

I've heard stories about race cars in the uk being stripped, welded and then torched, then left outside for a couple of months, shotblasted and painted. Supposedly this makes a difference as obviously you've removed a few layers of metal, but how much of a difference can it make? I used to think it was a bit crazy and ott but now faced with a car that's probably going to be not far off standard, I've started considering it.

I know Seb has lost 25kg from his old car, but I can't see where Theres 25kg spare to lose!
