Post Re: Footman James Insurance - hidden excess
So when did I first make this thread? Feb 1st

Yet today, Footman James pointed out to me that I needed to pay the garage a £350 excess!! Where did that come from after all the discussions we had?

One lady said 'there was no information' on the agreement that my excess was actually £200. They put me through to the claims department who said "oh yes there's a note on your file, your excess is definately £200 I'll update that for you."

Seriously the lack of communication and speed is frightening.

I've been trying to get hold of someone in FJ Classic car department since 09.30 this morning. I've just spent 27 minutes listening to Vivaldi on hold as they're 'experiencing unusually high level of calls at present - your call will be answered by the next available insurance agent'

I phoned the switchboard & they said they couldn't patch me through directly. :|

If FJ are so lousy, why do people continue to recommend and use them?

There's plenty of FAR better insurers out there - we've got Sparky on a classic policy with these guys - http://www.bishopcalway.co.uk/ - and I've had a policy with various companies who've ended up as http://www.lockton.com/Services-And-Sol ... lassic-Car for years. Both have been absolutely brilliant whenever I've needed to contact them. No mucking about. Just real, friendly, personal service.

OK, they might not be the ABSOLUTE cheapest quote, but - right now - how much would Sam have paid extra on his premium not to get this fiasco?

I use them cos they're cheap and when PC Plod pulls me over I can give him an insurance certificate. I've had expensive insurance and every time I've stacked something it's been a ballache. I'd rather pay less for that ballache. Just the way I look at it I guess.
