I would like to make my car look abit more 60s/early 70s style and was wondering if there are any difficulties in fitting the shorter lighting bar should I be able to get hold of one. Or the other option is to just chop off an inch from each side of the original. How hard would this be to do?

I might be wrong, but I think the shorter bars were mainly fitted to cars with dynamos behind the fan, and therefore not made to fit round the alternator on later cars. I think it's easier to cut the spotweld that holds the lamp bracket to the bar and take an inch or so from each end of the bar, then reweld the ends on.

There were short bars curved round the alternator - the long bar didn't come in until square lights in '74. Alternators were near-on a decade before that on AK350s.

'course, this ignores the difference between RHD and LHD headlight bars... The only short RHD bars'd be Slough...

Actually Adrian, slough bars are at least as long as post 74 2cv bars, I'm sure of that!

Quickest way is to cut 'n' shut, that's how mine was done. I didn't do that part as I don't weld, but it looks relatively easy to do and only cost me a tenner. If you do a search on here you will find the exact dimensions of the azam bar from when I requested them so you will then know how much to cut off, from memory I think it was an inch and a quarter each side.

I made mine 4" wider for my Van and adjusted the overall angle to fit better with the GSA alternator.

Cut it clean in the middle and added abit of an old bar, then cut it just before the adjusters to alter the angle. I did however bin the actual supports that come up from the chassis and weld the adjusters to be permanent... no room otherwise!

So what's holding the front wings to the chassis?
