Hey All,
Just a quick hello to everyone, great forum, wish I had it years ago.
About me:
I am a massive 2cv fan, and love all aircooled twins, bikes included. My very first car was an AMI 8 which I bought from a french friend for £5, she had a shookingly poor body (kind of like an ALKA SELTZER, you could hear it rusting) but spotless mechanics....most of which still reside in the darkest depths of my shed(s) my second car was an '87 Special, I covered 450 miles a week in her when I was in my apprenticeship and she never missed a beat, I had her for 10years and gave (YES, GAVE)her away  (fu*king idiot) in 2005....since then I am deucheless, and miss every minute of it......I need to get my hands on another beastie now that the time is right, and man have the prices soared, I have some old planete 2cv mags from the late '90s and you should see the prices...

I am in Southern Ireland, anyone of you guys ever down my way and guarantee a few beers a a place to crash (if the missus doesn't mind), Bloody great 2cv driving country too....and green laning if your into that type o' thing.

Anyway, I look forward to chatting to you all,

Best regards,
Shane

P.S.-I will try to get some pics up soon.

Welcome to the forum, Shane! We'd certainly love to see some photographs. I don't suppose there's many 2cv's left in southern Ireland these days?

Just out of interest, how did you hear about the forum?

Welcome Shane :) I've taken my 2cv to County Kerry...A fantastic part of the world, hope to return one day. I was there in September 2008 and didn't see any other 2cvs, but did see a Morris Minor convertible in Dingle.

All the best with your search for a Deuche.

Thanks lads,
Kerry is a beautiful place alright, the climate however.......not so kind to any old vehicles. There are very, very few 2cv's about and I know all cars within about a twenty mile radius (not many). There's a very clean restored charleston, a couple of specials and there was a really super clean aks400 but it got T-boned last year.....the owner will get her back on the road but it won't be soon.....all the cars above are imported from Netherlands or UK...a shame, but at least there is some around.

With regards to the forum, I have been looking in for the last year or so and I found it with a random search of the old google.

As for green laning, it is great, and you don't need to abuse the car to get somewhere really secluded...or you can throw the car at some serious stuff if your up to it....best of all, there is nobody around.

Anyway, great to find a group of fellow enthusiasts.

Cheers,
Shane.

hi, my name is Martin, i live in hampshire now, but used to live in bognor regis. i got introduced to this site by Neil, who i got chatting to on Snail. I use usernames on several forums, either Typ19 or Kompressdi, as im also into VWs, which i have been into as long as Citroens.

ive been into 2CVs and stuff since 1976 when my dad bought his first Dyane, so its been mostly A range ever since then. I have had several cars by now, so since passing my test in 1989, my first car was the one i built aged 16, an '84 bodied R reg (77) car, then 10 others after that. I grew up among them and met my future Art teacher at High School , Malcolm Fieldhouse by chatting to him about his ripple bonnet car when i was 9. My most recent car was a '60 in Bleu Glacier that John Parker in Chichester owned. It took me 8 years to buy it off him, but i have since sold it on. I still own an Ami6 break in France and my dad has a '53 Traction and our beloved '69 H truck.

I like to think i was one of the first rolling in a heavily lowered 2CV back at the 2CVGB International at Holme Pierrepoint in Nottingham in about 1993, when i had my '80 Bleu Azurite 2CV. I ran a silver car in 1992 at the London to Brighton, and had been to the L2B since the 1987 meeting, all the way up until 1998 in my ripple bonnet ( Ami chassis, 602 and disc brakes )

It was mostly a Sussex 2CV car and famous in articles and TV appearances too. I know Nick Thompson, Simon Day and Graham Draper, as well as all the other fabulous people i met with my early car at all the shows along the way, including having some great nights out with the PTS boys, Pete Sparrow included, usually at the Internationals, partying til late and generally raising a bit of hell, Knebworth 1992 around the Andyspares late night barbeque.

enough waffle from me, hi to anyone who my know who i am and good to meet all new people too, i will post up some pix of the cars soon
