Only one I've UK-reg'd was the Slowlex.

MOT, insure, get age-proof from club.
Send paperwork to DVLA.
Get letter demanding VAT payment proof.
Send letter back telling 'em I didn't bring it in, it was worth sod all, and anyway, no VAT's payable on used vehicles.
<silence>
Get letter telling me to go to local DVLA office for "inspection".
Five minute inspection.
Hour in queue to be told they'd call me.
Three hours later, barge in to counter, get told I've been forgotten.
Ten minutes later, get called, get tax disc.

Then there was the change of "body type" on the 4x4 to say "4x4 Light Utility". Ten months and two inspections later...

Take a long, good book. The V5C through the post is the quick bit.

I did jean Claude last November and it was a doddle imo. Insured the van with FJ on the chassis number, got cover note. Drove it to the MOT place, got MOT ticket. Went to the DVLA office in Sheffield with paper work filled in, handed it all over including the carte grise to the nice lady along with the cheque, filled in customs form(never heard anything else), got receipt for money and paperwork, 5 days later paperwork returned along with authority to purchase number plate, rang FJ to give them reg number, 2 weeks later v5c turned up.

One happy bunny and a lot less painful than I imagined.

Van should be ready to pick up tomorrow night. Just been up to have a quick look & it looks pretty good.

He had to go and get the paint guys to re-mix the colour as he wasn't happy with what the supplied originally - it wasn't creamy enough. He took the locker panel in & they matched it to that.

The windscreen rubber i reluctantly purchased from 'another source' seems to be ok & he had the windscreen back in in no time. He had a bit of a job with the gash rear hoop (trim) bit as the rear wings have been stoved in a little at some time, thus meaning the trim 1/ doesn't fit properly & 2/ was a right royal pain in the arse to get looking half reasonable & tight enough fit to keep the black, rubber tadpole trim in place...

It's never gonna be a minter, but it's tidied it up a bit. Thing is it makes the areas i didn't think were too bad & that i thought i'd be able to live with look hideous! :lol:
