The Italian GoldenTyre offers Michelin lookalikes 125R15, type GT133 or GT120. On websites, the prices typically are 55-70 eur/piece. The manufacturer is specializing on motorbike tyres so maybe they are not that bad?

Any experience?

Is it a remould, or a new tyre? I had some Comac (I think) remoulds with the same pattern as Michelin X on the rear of my dyane a few years back. They didn't stay on there long - I wouldn't have a remould on my car after one exploded whilst I drove down the motorway.

I understand it is not remould. Correct me if I am wrong.

Find it a bit pricy. If they olny last half the distance of a Michelin 125/15 then they are too expensive. ''Original'' Michelin 125/15 are only 125 euros.

Actually, to my experience, the Michelins nowadays wear out too quickly. Last set was about 30.000 km whereas the legends say you could even reach 100.000 km.

Quite possible, if toe-in-out is no correct or king pins/wheel bearings are buggered but steering in perfect condition the Michelin will still last 100.000 clicks.

I thought the points you mentioned were more or less ok and the tyres wore out evenly. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has bought new tyres and kept some sort of record. Or maybe you have, Viking. I hope they really would last that long.

Also brand new Toyos gave approximately the same 30.000 km under my Acadiane.

When I bought Viking Van in 2001 I fitted 4 new 135/15 Michelin. Shipped him down under, done nearly 75.000 clicks and still got about 20% left.
Lorraine's Heurtebise on 125/15 same story. Both our 2cv's have ''perfect'' steering. If none Michelin tires only last 30.000 clicks, it is not hard to calculate which tires are best in the long run.

My opinion is that for a non-Michelin tyre they are a lot of money, here in uk we pay less than that for budget 135 tyres, but I would rather have proper michelins or pay less for cheap 135s. Maybe it's worth the little extra for the proper look though, if your budget won't stretch to real michelins. I can't comment on longevity of new mich tyres though, I'm still using age old ones on my car!

I have found the 125 Mich.X does wear out quite quickly, but the 135 Mich.ZX lasts really well. I've gone through 125 X in about 15,000miles, but the 135 ZXs I have on the 2cv at the moment have been on there for well over 20,000 and still have lots of tread.
