Has anyone come up with a good idea as to how to hold the front windows slightly open, other than with the bent wire devices available which to me seem rather crude.

When I bought my 2cv they were fitted but get in the way when the windows are shut and are a pain to fix when on the move.

With all the brilliant minds here, there surely must be someone with an original and superior design?

A leaf blower, fixed perpendicular to the dashboard, makes a very effective 2CV window holder-opener device, I'm told.
One would require two of these contraptions if considering the needs of the front passenger. Four if one owns a Slough car.

Other than that, an elbow, strategically placed, is an excellent solution to the window-held-slightly-open problem.

Ok, that's set the tone for this thread! Maybe you can also suggest a cheap supplier of electrical cable so that I can plug the blowers in before I leave home. Shouldn't need much more than a few km's.

Tried the elbow approach but found it rather painful at speed when the window suddenly swings up and returns a blow to the elbow in revenge.

A Dyane is the solution if you want slightly less crude failing that a visa or an ax

Wouldn't the Diane stick out rather a lot when I try to wedge it between the door and the open window?

I use these simple but it works. Just turn the 'bent wire device' around so the loop bit slots over the centre of the sucker bit

Yes, the Dyane solution would stick out too far, and would also unbalance the 2cv... Unless you balanced it with either counterweights, cantelevers, or another Dyane, I suppose.

There's no need for electrical cabling for the leaf blowers IF you choose the petrol-driven alternatives that are widely available.

Elbow approach: carpet, or elbow pads for skateboarders, snowboarders, motorcyclists etc are very effective against window-revenge.

Actually, and I'm getting very giddy with silliness now, I've always remedied "window flapping" by opening the windscreen vent a tad. This provides just enough through-draft to keep the windows stably ajar. On cooler days this can make the hands a bit chilly, but I always keep a pair of cheap fleecy gloves in the car for this eventuality.

Steady on Snowy, you'd better go and have a lie down - you're beginning to sound quite sensible. (Which would appear rather out of character for most of the users)

I think the only problem with the wire devices is that when one drives over a bump, the window is often jarred open. Easy to reattach the wire with one hand though. Elbows on window ledge? Surely not........
